Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is the use of chemical substances to treat cancer. These may include cytotoxic treatments, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy.

There are different methods for administering medicines: intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous and oral. Your oncologist will advise you on the frequency of your chemotherapy.

Side effects depend on the type of treatment for the specific cancer, and will be explained by your oncologist and your chemo nurse.

Full informed consent is obtained before any treatment is given.
