Radiotherapy

Radiation therapy causes DNA damage thereby inhibiting cancer growth. Radiation therapy can also be used alone or combined with chemotherapy.

The role of radiotherapy in your cancer will be discussed with you by your clinical oncologist.

It can be used in various settings:

• Before surgery to reduce the size of the tumor.
• After surgery to reduce the risk of recurrence.
• As sole treatment.
• For symptom control.

Radiation therapy is administered at the Icon Radiotherapy facility, in Gloucester street.
